MAAC Unveils Men’s Basketball Conference Schedule

2013-14 Complete Schedule

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has released the 2013-14 conference schedule for its 11 member institutions.

The defending regular-season champion Niagara Purple Eagles open their MAAC slate at home against the Siena Saints on Friday, Dec. 6 and host Saint Peter's on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Once MAAC play resumes in January, the Purple Eagles head on the road to play Rider on Jan. 2 and Iona on Jan. 4. NU's next home game will be against one of the two recent additions to the conference, Monmouth, on Jan. 10. Niagara will then welcome Rider two days later.

The Purple Eagles will embark on their longest conference road trip of the season beginning at Fairfield on Jan. 16, followed by new member Quinnipiac on Jan. 18 and their first Battle of the Bridge clash at Canisius on Jan. 22. Two days later, Niagara hosts Marist at the Gallagher Center.

The following week, Niagara travels to play Siena on Jan. 30 and Marist on Feb. 1. NU will host three straight conference games when the Purple & White host Iona (Feb. 7), Manhattan (Feb. 9) and Canisius on Valentine's Day.

The Purple Eagles are back on the road for one game, against Manhattan, on Feb. 16. Niagara concludes its home schedule with games against Fairfield on Feb. 20 and Quinnipiac on Feb. 22. The Purple Eagles will then complete their 25th season in the MAAC with games at Monmouth (Feb. 28) and Saint Peter's (March 2).

The full 2013-14 MAAC television broadcast schedule will be announced on Sept. 11 as part of the MAAC's "2013-14 Preseason Hoops Show."

For the third straight and final season, the MAAC Championship will be held at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. from March 6-10.

Niagara is led by first-year head coach Chris Casey, who was just recently highlighted by ESPN.com as a new hire positioned for success. The Purple Eagles return All-MAAC First Team selection and the conference's returning leading scorer Antoine Mason, along with 3-point specialist in senior Marvin Jordan.
