ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The Niagara swimming and diving squads wrapped up the regular season portion of its schedule against St. Bonaventure, dropping a 170-74 decision on the women's side, while the men fell to the Bonnies, 147-72.
Niagara had several first-place finishes on the men's side.
Eric Ebert placed first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.81), and
Nathanial Resila in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.13).
Alex Siuda was not far behind Resila, earning second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.20).
Shane Baxter earned a top spot in the 200-yard IM, clocking in a 1:58.03 and finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (51.73).
Joshua Remaniak pocketed a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:12.94.
The women recieved a top finish from
Emily Kisloski in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:28.40.
The Purple Eagles took the top three spots in the 100-yard breakstroke, with Emma Pullano, Erica Crane and Clare Curran finishing first, second and third respectively.
Aubrey Kettrick also had a strong showing in the pool, snagging second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.20).
On the board,
Faith O'Malley came in second in the 3-meter diving event (208.72), while
Emily Hughes grabbed second in the 1-meter event (189.74).
Austin Devlin placed third in the 3-meter event (251.56), and second in the 1-meter event (267.60).
The Purple Eagles will now have three weeks to prepare for the 2013 Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships. The three-day event will take place from Feb. 14-16 at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y. with Canisius College and Niagara co-hosting.
