Past Student-Athlete of the Week Winners

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Junior midfielder Fran Pollastro of the Niagara women’s lacrosse team was honored as Student-Athlete of the Week after scoring the game-winning tally in the 14-13 victory over the Detroit Titans last Friday.

With five seconds remaining in the game and the score deadlocked at 13-13, Pollastro received a pass from teammate Carrie-Jo Farrugia  off a free position attempt, before zipping it past the Titans goaltender for the win.

The Syracuse, N.Y. native finished the game with five goals on six shots on net.  She is currently tied for the team lead in points with 16 and is second on the Purple Eagles in goals with 13.

Pollastro and the Purple Eagles are back on the road this Saturday, March 31 when they battle the Fairfield Stags at noon.
