Box Score vs. Ball State
OXFORD, Ohio - The Niagara softball team (4-14) dropped its final game of the 2012 Miami (Ohio) Redhawks Invitational on Sunday afternoon, a 14-0 setback to the Ball State Cardinals (16-7).
"Couldn't be more proud that we tried to overcome our injuries and illnesses this weekend against strong competition," head coach
Al Dirschberger said. "We only had 10 healthy bodies for this tough tournament. I thought we hung in there and tried our best. I can't complain about the dedication and passion I saw this weekend."
The Purple Eagles would allow all 14 runs in the first three innings of play. Sophomore starter
Kim Bryson pitched two innings, allowing six hits and 12 runs. Senior
Bri Allen came on in relief, pitching two innings, while allowing four hits and two runs.
Sophomore
Brittany Richberg had Niagara's only hit of the game, an infield single.
Niagara is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Ohio for a non-conference doubleheader against Youngstown State, beginning at 3 p.m.
