NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara swimming and diving teams take on the Fredonia Blue Devils on Friday. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.
The Purple Eagles are coming off a loss to Cleveland State by a 143-88 margin in the men’s meet and by a 148-89 margin in the women’s event.
On the men’s side, freshmen
Shane Baxter had a record-setting weekend, breaking a 2004 record in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 52.08. Fellow freshmen
Corban Bothell earned two come from behind victories in the 1000 freestyle (10:00.63) and the 500 free (4:53.76).
Sophomore
Cody Heimbrock has been productive in the diving events, placing second in the 1-meter (226.50) and third in the 3-meter (202.35).
On the women’s side, junior
Julia Bulmahn leads the charge for Niagara after winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.06. Sophomore
Emily Kisloski placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.35) and combined with teammates Bulmhan,
Ashley Harrington, and
Chelsea O'Laughlin for a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:45.92).
Following Friday’s meet, Niagara will return to Monteagle Ridge to take on Youngstown State on Oct. 28.
