Binghamton Sweeps Swimming & Diving On Senior Day

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara men's and women's swimming and diving teams were swept by the Binghamton Bearcats on Senior Day, by scores of 161-130 in the men's competition and 179-112 in the women's competition.

"Today was all about the seniors," head coach Ben Nigro said. "We were able to recognize and thank all of the seniors who put in so much time and energy towards this program today."

In the men's competition, Kevin Jennings won the 50 yard freestyle event, while Evinn Drusys won the 100 yard freestyle event and Brian Sawma won the 100 yard butterfly event. Chris Zukas continued his strong weekend off the diving board, sweeping both the one-meter diving and three-meter diving events.

In the women's competition, Katie Oke won the 1,000 freestyle event, while Ashley Jones finished in second place in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.  The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Aubrey Kettrick, Stephanie Gartley, Renee Parsons and Lindsey Jackson took home top honors, clocking in at a time of 1:44.05.

After a week off, the Purple Eagles will gear up for the 2010 MAAC Championships.
