NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - In it's first meet of the 2010 calendar year, the Niagara men's and women's swimming and diving programs were swept by the visiting Buffalo Bulls by scores of 120-105 and 129-105, respectively.
On the men's side, junior Evinn Drusys (Yucaipa, Calif.) won the 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 54.06, while junior Kevin Jennings (Gasport, N.Y.) took top honors in the 100 yard freestyle event with a time of 49.85. Sophomore Chris Zukas (Elmira, N.Y.) took home first place honors in the one-meter diving event, while junior Scott Page (Rochester, N.Y.) was the top finisher in the 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:04.36.
For the women's team, freshman Julia Bulmahn (Clarence, N.Y.) took top honors in the 100 yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:01.04. Sophomore Ashley Jones (Lockport, N.Y.) finished first in the three-meter diving event, while senior Stephanie Gartley (Camlachie, Ont.) was the top overall finisher in the 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:12.53.
The Purple Eagles are back in action on Thursday, January 21, when they travel to take on cross-town rival Canisius in a Battle of the Bridge match-up.
