Softball Defeats Mt. St. Mary's 5-2

BALTIMORE, MD. - The Niagara softball team (9-12) defeated Mount St. Mary's 5-3 in the consolation game of the UMBC Tournament on Saturday.

Felicia Coffey (Mesa, Az.) led off in the first inning with a double followed by Teresa Healy (Las Vegas, Nev.) hitting a single and Tory Healy (Las Vegas, Nev.) hitting a double. Both Healy's tallied one RBI each in the first inning to give Niagara a two-run lead.

In the fourth inning, Jamie Constantz (Endicott, N.Y.) got on base with a walk. Coffey then hit a single before Kristin Sito (Elyria, Ohio) hit a three-run home run giving Niagara five runs.

Brooke Viola (Los Alamitos, Calif.) started in the mound for Niagara pitching four strike-outs before Cassie Stone (North Tonawanda, N.Y.). Mount St. Mary's scored two unearned runs on the contest.

Niagara hits the field again on March 27 when the Purple Eagles travel to Binghamton for a double header.
