Men's Swimming Wins 14 of 16 Events at Fredonia

FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Niagara men's swimming and diving team defeated Fredonia State on Saturday, 195-102, winning 14 of 16 events. Sophomore diver Ian O'Rourke (Grand Island, N.Y.) broke the school record in the 3 meter-6 dive record, giving him ownership all four diving records.

O'Rourke scored a 307.15 in the event, shattering the old mark set by David Germain (283.42) in 2006. He scored a 285.60 in the 1-meter event, both pool records.

Junior Ryan O'Laughlin (Lewiston, N.Y.) was a triple winner on the day, taking the title in the 200 fly (2:03.52), the 100 fly (55.03) and the 200 IM (2:05.21). O'Laughlin's win led way to an NU sweep in the 200 fly, one of six sweeps for the Purple Eagles on the afternoon.

Mike Smiechowski (Apex, N.C.) [1000 free 10:05.95, 500 free 5:02.96], Lucas Shumway (Sanborn, N.Y.) [100 Breast 1:02.53, 200 breast 2:19.95] and Evinn Drusys (Yucaipa, Calif.) [100 Breast 1:02.53, 200 breast 2:19.95] were also individual double winners for Niagara.
