Niagara Swimming and Diving Downed by Buffalo

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were defeated by the University at Buffalo today at the Oxy Aquatic Center. The women dropped a 155-76 decision to the Bulls and the men were defeated by a score of 148-89.

Senior swimmer Pat Garvey (Pine Bush, N.Y.), continued to lead the men’s squad as a double event winner in the 50 free and 100 free.

Also winning for the men was senior Zak Brown (Bakersfield, Cailf.) as he ws victorious in th 200 free event.

The Purple Eagles were without star freshman diver Ian O’Rourke (Grand Island, N.Y.) who was held out of competition with an injury.

Leading the charge for the women was junior Allison Carr (Niagara Falls, N.Y.), placing first in the 100 breaststroke event.

Also winning for the women was Freshman Elizabeth Piggott (Staatsburg, N.Y.), came away on top in the 100 free event.

The Purple Eagles will return to action on Jan. 26 when both teams travel to Cleveland St. to take on the Vikings.
