Swimming & Diving Lose to St. Bonaventure in Regular-Season Finale

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University swimming and diving teams lost a non-conference meet to Big Four rival St. Bonaventure University Thursday evening at the Oxy Aquatic Center. The Purple Eagle’s women’s team lost, 180-54, and the men’s team lost, 174-60.

On the women’s side, senior Kelly Kennedy (York, N.Y.) won the 50 yard freestyle event in 25.41. She also placed second in the 100 yard freestyle in 58.13.

For the men, sophomore Pat Garvey (Pine Bush, N.Y.) won the 100 yard freestyle in a team-best 48.18. Garvey also placed second in the 200 IM with a team-best 2:00.71. He was also part of Niagara’s second place 200 yard free-relay team that swam a season-best 141.94.

The Purple Eagles return to action on Feb16-18 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.
