NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponents Saturday at the Oxy Aquatic Center.
The Purple Eagles men’s team got their first two wins of the season, improving to 2-2. The women’s team also scored their first victories of the year, improving to 3-2.
Junior Pat Garvey (Pine Bush, N.Y.) highlighted the Niagara men’s team’s performance as he won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. The Purple Eagles’ Dave Germain (Sr., Oswego, N.Y.) won the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
In women’s action, sophomore Hope Wiles (Baltimore, Md.) took first place in 1,000-yard freestyle, the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle

Overall, Niagara came away with a combined 16 victories.
"Again, we swam faster than the last meet," Niagara head coach Ben Nigro said. "Each week we are building for the MAAC Championships. I look forward to seeing how we do next meet at Loyola."
The Purple Eagles will be back in action December 1 when they will compete at Loyola (Md.) College in Baltimore.
