NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams return to the Oxy Aquatic Center when they host Buffalo at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Kiernan Center on the Monteagle Ridge campus.
Niagara enters the meet with the men’s team sporting a 5-3 overall record and the women a 7-7 mark. Buffalo men are 2-2 and the women 2-4.
In their last competition, the Purple Eagle men’s team beat Saint Peter’s, 112-92. Sophomore Dave Germain (Oswego, N.Y.) and freshman James Polito (Reading, Pa.) both won two events.
The women’s squad won their sixth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference meet of the season with a 165-32 win over the Peahens. Niagara Athlete of the Week Kaitlin DiDonato (Massapequa, N.Y.) won three events, while sophomores Heather Link (Wheatfield, N.Y.) and Emily Zimdahl (Grand Island, N.Y.), and freshman Mariah Glass (Oswego, N.Y.) each captured first in two events.
The UB men’s team is coming off a 156-81 loss to Ball State on Jan. 15. The Bulls also defeated Canisius on Jan. 8, 132-61. In their most recent action, the women’s squad swam in the Islamorada Invitational in Islamorada, Fla. on Jan. 10.
