NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to the University at Buffalo this weekend to swim in their final regular-season meet of the season. The Purple Eagles will compete against UB, St. Bonaventure and Canisius Saturday and Sunday in the UB Invitational.
Events in Alumni Arena Natatorium begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and resume at 7 p.m. for a second session. The meet begins at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Niagara enters the meet with the men’s team sporting a 3-7 record and the women a 3-11 mark.
"This meet will be a tune up for us leading into MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) Championships," Niagara swimming and diving coach Peter Thompson said. "We are still toying with a few events for some kids, as well as some relay spots, so our lineup will reflect those needs. I am looking forward to watching some good swims this weekend."
This season, the Purple Eagles have beaten Canisius and lost to UB. Neither squad has swum St. Bonaventure.
Niagara competes in the MAAC Championships Feb. 19-21 in Baltimore, Md., at Loyola College.
