Swimming and Diving Teams Complete H2Ounds Invitational

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams fell to Loyola, 200-120 and 227-105, respectively, at the two-day H2Ounds Invitational at Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.

Niagara freshman Pat Garvey placed third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.18, while also posting a fifth-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in a time of 53.86.

Senior Brian Griffin earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:13.83 and classmate Nate Katz posted a time of 5:11.73 to finish 12th in the 500 yard freestyle.

Sophomore Dave Germain finished third on the three-meter with a score of 332.65.

On the women’s side, junior Traci Liberi earned a third-place finish in the women’s 100 yard freestyle and helped the 200 yard medley relay team of freshmen Heather Link and Jodi Kennis and senior Karolina Bazylewicz to a third-place finish with a time of 1:54.06.

Link also competed in the 100 yard backstroke, posting a time of 1:03.87 to finish fifth.

In the women’s 500 yard freestyle, freshman Mariah Glass posted a top-ten finish with a time of 5:36.03. Classmate Kaitlin DiDonato finished in 13th place, just five spots behind Glass, with a time of 5:46.49.

The teams return to the pool with an exhibition meet at Waterloo in Ontario Jan. 8 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
