NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams travel to the Buckeye State to swim Cleveland State Saturday at 1 p.m. in Robert F. Busbey Natatorium on the CSU campus.

Niagara enters the meet with the men’s team sporting a 3-6 record and the women a 3-10 mark. Cleveland State men are 8-2 and the women 4-6 on the season.

"The women’s meet should be a competitive affair," Niagara swimming and diving coach Peter Thompson said. "We are looking to improve our focus, our times and really begin honing all of our skills as we are closing in on the MAAC Championships."

In their last competition, the Purple Eagle men’s team lost to Buffalo, 138-52, Jan. 15. The women’s squad was defeated by the Bulls, 129-68.

The Cleveland State squads both picked up wins in their last outing. The men beat Duquesne, 125-79, and the women defeated Youngstown State, 129-107.

Saturday’s meet will be a homecoming for Niagara diving coach Tom Smolinski who was a top-five Midwest Conference finalist in both the one- and three-meter diving events for CSU. He was also a two-time academic and athletic All-American for the Vikings.
