Destinee Norman

Niagara Volleyball Head Coach Ren Cefra has announced that Destinee Norman will join the coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2023 season.

In her first season with Niagara, Niagara led the MAAC in blocking with 231.0 total blocks in 91 sets while averaging 2.54 blocks per set. Both Laryssa Imbuzeiro and Janiah Robinson earned All-MAAC honors as Imbuzeiro was named MAAC Second Team and Robinson was named to the All-Rookie Team. Niagara completed season sweeps of Iona, Manhattan, Canisius, Saint Peter's, and Siena.

Norman played three seasons at Buffalo State where she was primarily a defensive specialist. Across three seasons with the Bengals, she played in 55 matches and 144 sets. In her career she had 257 digs. The native of Lewiston had a career season as a sophomore as she played in 21 matches and 62 sets, she had a career high 157 digs. She had a .913 receiving percentage which was second best on the team.

Outside of her playing career she has been a coach at Niagara County Volleyball Club since Jan. 2017. As a coach she helped lead the girls 15u team to nationals. She also serves as a private coach where she focuses on speed and conditioning.

In May of 2023 she joined Advantage Physical Therapy as a physical therapy AIDE. She has served in the community on multiple occasions including being a blood drive volunteer, working with Girls in Sports along with the Buffalo Food Drive.  

Cefra spoke highly of Norman after she joined the staff in mid-August. "I am excited to add Destinee to our staff.  She has already been a positive figure in our gym and will be a great role model for our student athletes."
