Biography

As A Junior (2002-03):

    Played in all 29 games, starting three (Akron, Drexel and Youngstown State)...Averaged 0.8 points, 0.7 rebounds and 5.4 minutes per game...Shot 52.9 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line...Ranked fourth on the team in blocks with eight.

    Tied his career high for points twice when he tallied four points at George Mason (Dec. 7) and at Bucknell (Dec. 4)...Had a personal-best three rebounds vs. Marshall (Nov. 22) and Akron (Dec. 14)...Registered a career-high two blocks in a win at St. Peter’s (Jan. 16)...Perfect from the field six times and from the free-throw line three times.

 

As A Sophomore (2001-02):

    Played in seven games off the bench...Averaged 0.6 points, 0.3 rebounds and 1.6 minutes per game...Shot 50 percent from the field.

    Had two points in over St. Peter’s (Feb. 8) and two more in a victory over Loyola (Feb. 13)...Recorded his first collegiate block and had a rebound in a victory over Coppin State (Dec. 22).

 

As A Freshman (2000-01): 

    Saw action in five games as a rookie...Averaged 1.2 points and 0.8 rebounds per game...Shot 20 percent from the field and 1.000 from the charity stripe.

    Registered four points and a career-high three rebounds at Colgate (Dec. 21)...Was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line vs. the Red Raiders...Dished out his first collegiate assist vs. St. John’s (Nov. 25).

 

As A Redshirt Freshman (1999-00):

    Sat out season as a medical redshirt.

 

Fichardt Park High School:

    Introduced basketball to his high school...Led team to the local league championship...Scored 63 points in one game...Competed in the high jump, javelin and shot put in high school, placing second in the high jump in the Open championships...Was a member of the U19 and U22 South African teams...Played in the All-Africa Games finishing fifth with the top three teams advancing to the Olympics...Named MVP of the U22 team in 1997...Coached by National Team coach John Dominguez.

                Born July 8, 1979, in Senekal, South Africa...Son of Abrie and Lenette de Wet...Married to the former Trisha Domres this past summer...Received his bachelor’s degree in business/marketing and is pursuing a MBA degree.
