Before Niagara: Attended Western Kentucky where he played in 17 games, had an on-base percentage of .279, slugging percentage of .167, and had three RBIs. Got honored with 2022 top 10 conference USA impact first year freshman list. Went to Garth Webb Secondary School and played four varsity seasons. Got honored with 2021 Baseball Factory Preseason All-American Team, 2021 Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason All-Region Team, 2020 Canadian Premier Baseball League All-Star Showcase attendee, and 16u Premier Baseball League of Ontario Champion. MacKay was a two-sport athlete, also playing Hockey. MacKay chose Niagara because, “has a good competitive baseball program with great coaches, great academics, and the campus is extremely nice”.
