Baseball Falls to Rider

Niagara University, NY - Niagara baseball fell to Rider 26-2 Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Bobo Field.

The Purple Eagles fell to 21-16-1, 16-7 MAAC, while the Broncs improved to 25-15, 17-6 MAAC.

Rider got on the board early, scoring on a ground-rule double from Neri that plated Gallagher, followed by a two-RBI single off the bat of Magoulic that made it a 3-0 game. Shuhet then hit a two-run homer over the left field fence, before Crespo hit a solo shot to extend the lead to six.

The Broncs extended their lead in the top of the second with a sacrifice fly from Keri that brought home Gallagher. Magoulic followed that up with an RBI single that plated Hartmann.

Rider grew the lead to 13-0 in the third with a five run inning starting with a bases loaded walk, followed by an RBI single from Hartmann and sac flys from Paskell and Shuhet.

Niagara got on the board for the first time in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single off the bat of Rees Kozar that plated Nate Milk.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Broncs plated two runs in the top of the fifth with a sac fly from Paskall and an RBI single off the bat of Shuhet.

Rider added nine runs in the top of the sixth as well as one run a piece in the seventh and ninth.

The Purple Eagles added one run in the sixth as Tyler Vivacqua scored on a Shawn Cameron single.
