Niagara University, NY - Niagara baseball tied St. Bonaventure 4-4 in a non-conference midweek contest Tuesday afternoon at Bobo Field.
The Purple Eagles moved to 16-15-1, while the Bonnies moved to 12-24-1.
After two scoreless innings to get the game going, St. Bonaventure struck first in the top of the third as Conner Vercollone scored on a fielder's choice to give the Bonnies a 1-0 lead.
Niagara starter Johnny Montgomery's day came to an end after three innings of work, allowing one run on three hits with one strikeout, as Rece Allensworth came in for relief to start the fourth.Â
St. Bonaventure added three runs in the top of the fourth, starting with an RBI single from Alex Hebenstreit, followed by two wild pitches to plate two more runs.Â
Nathan Harb came in for relief to start the seventh inning, ending Allenworth's day at three innings, allowing one run on two hits and four strikeouts.
The Purple Eagles finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh tying up the game at four. Noah Konings got things started with an RBI single scoring Carter Aarts, followed by an RBI single off the bat of Rees Kozar to plate Jacob Brooks. Curtis McKay added the third straight RBI single this time, scoring Konings. Nick Cote capped things off with a sac fly that brought home Kozar.
Eddie Dolansky started the eighth inning for Niagara after Harb threw a scoreless inning. Dolansky kept things knotted at four as Jack Dickinson came in for the ninth and threw another scoreless inning.
Heading into extra innings Andrew Damiani came in relief for the Purple Eagles.Â
