Amherst, N.Y. — Niagara fell to Siena 7-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Saturday night.
The Saints won the doubles point by taking two of three matches and went on to claim all six singles contests.
In doubles, Siena's Emilio Zavala Salinas and Santiago Trujillo Garcia opened with a 6-3 victory over Niagara's
Logan Wong and Jose Maria Garcia at No. 1. Mateja Stefanovic and Bruno Loach Varella
clinched the doubles point at No. 3, defeating
Ary Bhawan and
Sarosh Rustomjee 6-3. The No. 2 doubles match between Matteo Castellazzi/Sviatoslav Koliadynski and
Shravan Somasi/Damian
Janiszewski was left unfinished.
Koliadynski posted the most decisive result of the afternoon, defeating Niagara's Jose Maria Garcia 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 without dropping serve in the second set. Bruno Loach Varella was equally efficient at No. 4, dismissing
Logan Wong 6-3, 6-3, while Emilio Zavala Salinas completed a dominant showing at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 rout of
Ekansh Shukla.
At No. 1, Matteo Castellazzi came from behind to defeat Niagara's
Damian Janiszewski. Janiszewski took the opening set 6-1, but Castellazzi regrouped and won the final two sets 6-3, 6-4 to close out the match.
Mars Argun needed a tiebreaker to get past
Ary Bhawan at No. 3, winning 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Castellazzi picked up a second win of the day at No. 5, defeating
Sarosh Rustomjee 6-3, 6-3 after dropping the first set.
