Hamden, CT – Niagara Softball dropped two contests against Quinnipiac, game one Niagara fell 7-6 and in game two 13-4 in five innings at the Quinnipiac Softball Field in Hamden, CT.
Game One
Quinnipiac got to an early lead in the bottom of the first as Kennedy Demott grounded out to second, but Sofia Vega was able to come home to put the Bobcats up 1-0.
Niagara would their first two runs of the contest in the top of the third as
Sophia Marrero doubled to center to drive
Kelli Plumaker and
Donnalea Barnett home to give the Purple Eagles a 2-1 lead.
The Purple and White would add to their lead in the top of the fourth as
Adriana Hills doubled to right center to allow Hailey Canname to score to take a 3-1 advantage over the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac would cut into the Purple Eagles lead in the bottom of the fourth as Riley Potter hit a double to right to allow Kinsley Cox to score to cut the lead to 3-2 in favor of Niagara.
The Bobcats tied the game in the top of the fourth as Noelle Reid singled up the middle to move Mac Davis home to score.
Mary Fogg would take the lead from Niagara 5-3 in the fourth as she singled to left center to allow two of the Bobcats baserunners to score.
In the top of the fifth the Purple Eagles would tie the contest back up at five as
Jolyn Gibbons doubled to center to allow
Kelli Plumaker to score.
Hailey Cenname would record an RBI as
Sophia Marrero was brought home.
In the sixth Quinnipiac would get the lead back 7-5 as the contest moved into the seventh.
The Purple and White would attempt a comeback as Adrianna Hills reached to first off, an error by the Bobcats center fielder that would eventually allow
Jolyn Gibbons to score to make the game 7-6 in favor of Quinnipiac.
Carmella Phelan pitched 3.1 innings as she saw 17 batters as she punched one out,
Gianna Graber pitched 2.2 innings as she faced 13 batters.
Game Two
To kick off game two Niagara got on the scoreboard first courtesy of
Sophia Marrero as she drove a ball down to right center as she was able to get to second base which allowed
Carmella Phelan to get home safe.
Quinnipiac would then go on to record the next nine runs in the contest up to the fourth inning.
Niagara would rally back with three more runs of their own in the fifth with a Marrero double to center to send Phelan and Barnett to score. Cenname would hit a sac fly to allow Plumaker to score to bring the contest to 9-4 in favor of the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac then would score the next four runs of the contest to take the game 13-4.
Gianna Graber pitched the first inning as she faced nine batters.
Jenna Martin would then come in and pitch the final 3.2 as she saw 22 batters as she punched one out.

• Niagara goes to 12-17 all-time against Quinnipiac
• The Purple and White recorded a game high in hits with 13 in game one
• Marrero recorded four hits in game one which is the most by a Purple Eagle this season in one game, Marrero also recored two doubles which is also the most by a Purple Eagle in one game
