Schenectady, NY - A three-run eighth inning catapulted Niagara baseball to a 3-2 victory over Siena Friday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Conference action.
The Purple Eagles are now 6-10, 2-2 MAAC, while the Saints fell to 6-12, 2-5 in conference play.
After two scoreless frames from Niagara starter Reuben Malamed, Siena broke through in the bottom of the third with a two run homer off the bat of Aidan Paradine.
Johnny Montgomery came in relief for Malamed, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings, only allowing one base hit.
Hayden Morrison kept the strong bullpen effort from the Purple Eagles going, also tossing 2.2 scoreless innings, with three punch outs.Â
Niagara finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth knotting up the contest at two with a single to right center from Tyler Vivacqua.
The Purple Eagles gained the lead later in the inning on a Curtis McKay sacrifice fly that plated Rees Kozar.
Andrew Damiani came on in the ninth to save the game for Niagara and secure the 3-2 victory.
