Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Niagara found themselves down after the first inning by seven and attempted a comeback but ended up short 12-6 at Gartland Field in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Marist recorded seven runs in the first inning, but Niagara answered with four in the second in attempt to comeback from the early deficit.
Sophia Chemotti tripled to right field to allow
CJ Haney to score followed by a
Hailey Cenname single up the middle to bring home Chemotti home from third.
Sophia Marrero singled to center to allow Cenname to score,
Jolyn Gibbons would then single up the left to bring home Phelan. To bring Niagara within striking distance of 7-4.
The Red Foxes would add one more run to their lead bringing the contest to 8-4 heading into the top of the third.
Chemotti would record her second hit and RBI on the contest after her homerun to left field to bring the game to an 8-5 lead for Marist.
Both teams would yet again trade runs as Isabella Manory from Marist would single to left and bring Haley Ahr to score.
Kelli Plumaker would homer to left center for the Purple and Whites second homerun of the game.
The Red Foxes would then add two more runs in the fifth and one final run in the sixth to take the game 12-6.
Ryan Hatty pitched 4.2 innings as she faced 30 batters,
Jenna Martin would pitch the final 1.1 innings as she saw 11 batters.
