Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Niagara Softball dropped a pair of games to Marist 2-1 and in game two 10-2 in five innings at Gartland Field in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Game One
Every run scored in game one was recorded in the fifth.
Sophia Chemotti singled to right center which allowed Adrianna Hills to score to put the Purple Eagles up 1-0 in the top of the fifth.
Marist would answer right back as Peyton Pusey singled to right center that drove Sienna Kunze home to knot the contest at one.
Later in the inning Annabella Geiser flied out to left field for a sacrifice fly to allow Marissa Scarono to allow the Red Foxes to take game one 2-1.
Ryan Hatty pitched all six innings for the Purple in White as she saw 25 batters and recorded two strikeouts.
Game Two
To kick off game two Marist recorded the first two runs in the first with Livia Wilsie flied out to bring Annabelle Geiser home. Later Sienna Kunze singled up to center to bring Haley Ahr home to give the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead.
Marist would extend their lead to three from a Peyton Pusey homerun.
Niagara would get on the board in the third inning.
Carmella Phelan singled to left center which brought
CJ Haney home to score. In the fourth
Jolyn Gibbons would hit a homerun to left center to cut into the Red Foxes lead.
Marist would extend their lead back out to three as Pusey would score off a wild pitch. Annabelle would score a run after an Isabella Manory reached first off a field error.
Sienna Kunze would put the game to 9-2 in favor of Marist after her three-run shot to center field.
To cap off the scoring Pusey would hit a homerun to center field to bring the Red Foxes the win 10-2.
Abbey Steen pitched 1.1 innings as she faced 10 batters.
Jenna Martin came in to pitch 2.1 innings as she faced 15 batters striking out one.
Gianna Graber would pitch the final two outs as she faced three batters sitting down one.
