Binghamton, N.Y. – Niagara dropped two games against Colgate with game one decided in five innings of the score of 11-2 followed by a 7-1 win for the Raiders in game two at Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park in Binghamton, N.Y.
Game One
Hailey Cenname kicked of the game in the top of the first inning with a homerun to put Niagara on top early.
Ella Sheehan later in the inning singled to left field which allowed her fellow freshman
Donnalea Barnett to score to put the Purple Eagles up 2-0 after the top of the first.
Colgate would tie the game as Marina Taveras singled to third which brought home the Raiders base runner home. Later in the same inning Lily Haluska would drive a single to left field which allowed Analisa Raffaelli to score to knot the game at two apiece.
Colgate got back on the board in the bottom of the third as they recorded three runs to extend their lead to 5-2.
The next inning the Raiders would cap off for six runs to eventually take game one 11-2.
Jenna Martin pitched the first 2.1 innings as she faced 18 batters as she struck out one.
Gianna Graber recorded the final 1.1 innings as she faced the final 12 batters with two strikeouts.
Game Two
Colgate kicked of the scoring in game two in the fifth as Taveras homered down the right field line with Analisa Raffaelli already on base to take a 2-0 lead.
Sophia Marrero would answer back in the sixth of a home run of her own that would go into right field to cut the Raiders lead into half.
Tealla Rivera would record the third straight homer of the game to put Colgate back up by two.
Taveras would hit a single up to left field that would bring three Raiders back home to put Colgate up 6-1, Taveras would later score the final run of the game on a passed ball to give the Raiders the win 7-1.
Ryan Hatty pitched 4.2 innings facing 22 batters striking out four, Graber pitched the final 1.1 innings facing nine batter and sitting three down.
