Youngstown, Ohio — Niagara men's tennis fell to Youngstown State 4-1 Friday, with the Penguins claiming the doubles point and three of six singles matches to secure the victory.
Youngstown State took two of three doubles matches to open the contest. Dominik Vonbank and Matteo Ceradelli topped Shravan Somasi and Damian Janiszewski 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Alex Woiten and Takamasa Mishiro defeated Ary Bhawan and Sarosh Rustomjee 6-3 at No. 3. The No. 2 match between Logan Wong and Jose Maria Garcia against Rafael Le Fur and Oscar Gippet ended tied at 4-4 and was not completed.
Niagara's lone point came from Janiszewski, who rallied to beat Vonbank at No. 1 singles. In the other completed matches, Ceradelli swept Bhawan 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, Le Fur handled Wong 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, and Mishiro blanked Ekansh Shukla 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6. The No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches were left unfinished with the outcome already decided.
