Rochester, NY - Niagara Men's Hockey fell to RIT 2-1, Tuesday night at the Gene Polisseni Center in Atlantic Hockey action.
The Purple Eagles fell to 9-18-1 overall and 6-13-2 in conference play, while the Tigers improved to 17-12-2 overall and 13-8-2 in Atlantic Hockey action.
The first period was a defensive battle with Niagara getting the lone Power-Play opportunity.
Both teams had their fair share of chances with RIT goaltender Jakub Krbecek stopping all seven of the Purple Eagles' shots, while Tomas Anderson stood his ground making eight saves and denying Christian Catalano on a breakaway.
RIT struck early in the second to gain a 1-0 advantage. Austin Brimmer capitalized on a rebound to beat Anderson.Â
The Tigers doubled their lead less than a minute later with Zach Wigle finding the back of the net on passes from Brimmer and Tristan Allan.
Niagara had 10 shots on net but could not solve Krbecek heading into the third frame down two.
The Purple Eagles finally found the back of the net out of the third period media timeout. Andy Reist won the face-off to get it back to Ethan Lund feeding over a one time pass to Jonathan Ziskie who beat Krbecek.
Niagara pulled Anderson for the extra attacker and created multiple chances but could not find the back of the net, ultimately falling 2-1.
