Ithaca, NY - Niagara women's tennis fell to Cornell 6-1 on Saturday.
Julia Clarke-Louie provided Niagara's lone victory, rallying to defeat Cornell's Martina Marica in singles competition. After dropping the first set 6-7, Clarke-Louie dominated the second set 6-1 to secure the No. 5 singles win.
Cornell swept all three doubles matches to claim the early advantage, with the Niagara pairs of Isabel Garcia/Gabriela Melo, Saloni Tamang/Julia Clarke-Louie, and Larisa Kotok/Valeria Mora all falling short. The third doubles match was the closest of the day for Niagara, with Kotok and Mora narrowly losing 6-7.
In singles play, Niagara dropped five of six matches. Valeria Mora fell to Andrea Martinez 0-6, 1-6 at No. 4 singles, while Amelia Greenawalt was swept 0-6, 0-6 by Tanya Fan at No. 6. Gabriela Melo lost to Sage Loudon 3-6, 2-6, and Isabel Garcia couldn't solve Michelle Ryndin, falling 4-6, 1-6. Larisa Kotok pushed her match to a tiebreaker at No. 3 singles but ultimately lost to Victoria Zhao 3-6, 7-6 (5-10).
