Niagara University, N.Y. – Men's basketball fell to Marist 58-46 Sunday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Gallagher Center.
Marist got out to an early 10-2 lead within the first six minutes of the contest, Reggie Pudhomme got the lone basket for Niagara.
Over the next three minutes Trenton Walters combined for six points, while Justin Hawkins added a three as the Purple Eagles brought it to a four point game at 15-11.
The Red Foxes took control of the half going on a 12-3 run to end their half going up 27-14. Walters and Drew Larson added five points in the final minute for Niagara as the Purple Eagles trailed 27-19 heading into halftime.
Out of the halftime break Niagara went on a 9-0 run to take a 28-27 advantage with Vice Zanki scoring five and Hawkins adding four.
Marist regained the lead at 35-32 with a 8-4 run, but it was short lived as Prudhomme hit a three at 11:38 to tie the game up.
Another run from the Red Foxes, this time 13-4 gave Marist a nine point lead with 4:37 remaining in the contest.
Niagara tried the foul game to mount a late game comeback with baskets from Hawkins and a pair of free throws from Walters, but it was not enough as the Purple Eagles fell 58-46.
