Cambridge, Mass. - Women's tennis dropped a 6-1 decision to Harvard on Friday, managing just one point in the singles competition.
The Purple Eagles' lone victory came from Gabriela Melo, who defeated Claire Shao in a hard-fought second singles match. After dropping the first set 1-6, Melo rallied to take the second set 6-4 before clinching the match in a tiebreaker, 10-7.
However, Niagara struggled in the remaining singles matches. Isabel Garcia fell to Stephanie Yakoff 5-7, 0-6 at first singles, while Larisa Kotok was defeated 0-6, 0-6 by Kavya Karra at third singles. Saloni Tamang lost to Ann-Raphaelle Serghi 4-6, 0-2 (retired) at fourth singles, Valeria Mora dropped her match to Natasha Rajaram 1-6, 2-6 at fifth singles, and Julia Clarke-Louie fell to Andra Braicu 4-6, 2-4 at sixth singles.
The Purple Eagles were also swept in doubles play. The first doubles team of Garcia and Melo lost 4-6, while Tamang and Clarke-Louie fell 1-6 at second doubles. Kotok and Mora rounded out the doubles competition with a 4-6 defeat at third doubles.
