Niagara University, NY - Niagara men's basketball defeated Sacred Heart 64-61 on a late second three pointer from Reggie Prudhomme, Friday afternoon at the Gallagher Center.
The Purple Eagles improved to 4-9, 1-2 MAAC, while the Pioneers fell to 5-10, 1-3 MAAC.
Niagara started the contest on a 15-4 run led by Landon Williams five of his 11 points, while Prudhomme and Vice Zanki both added a basket.
Sacred Heart out of the under 12 media timeout went on a 16-9 to cut the game to a four point Purple Eagles lead.
Williams and Sabino hit twos while Justin Page knocked down two free throws in the final minute and a half to give Niagara a 32-24 lead heading into halftime.
The Purple Eagles came out of halftime on a 13-6 run with Page hitting three triples in a row accounting for nine of his 23 points.
Niagara consistently kept a 10 point advantage on the Pioneers until the Pioneers closed the game on a 14-3 run, knotting up the contest at 61 with nine seconds remaining.
Prudhomme drilled a three pointer with 1.3 seconds remaining to give the Purple Eagles their first conference win of the season.
