Women's Volleyball Falls to Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, NY – After winning the first two sets Niagara volleyball fell to Le Moyne in five sets (25-21, 26-24, 17-25, 19-25, 11-15) at Ted Grant Court in Syracuse, N.Y.

Set One

Le Moyne got the first point of the game, but Niagara went on a five point run led by Liana Tolliver with two kills to make it a 8-4 game, Kinga Wronska recorded an ace to force the Dolphins to call a timeout.

Out of the timeout break Le Moyne went on a four point run of their own. The two teams traded points back and forth the rest of the set which led to Niagara's first set win of the season.

Sydney Wilkes and Tolliver led the Purple Eagles with five kills a piece in the first set, while Paisley Ka'ahanui recorded seven assists.

Set Two

Niagara started out the second set on a three point run with Janiah Robinson and Wronska both recording kills. Le Moyne bounced back to knot the game up at four.

The rest of the set was another back and forth battle with the teams trading leads five times which led to a Purple Eagles timeout after the Dolphins took a 20-18 lead.

Two kills from Tolliver after the timeout tied things up at 21, and Niagara completed the second set comeback 26-24 and lead two sets to none.

Tolliver once again led the team in kills during the set this time with five. Ka'ahanui and Blessing both tallied six assists a piece in the set.

Set Three

Le Moyne got off to a four point run to start the third set, but Blessing stopped the run with Niagara's first point of the set.

The Purple Eagles put together four straight points to make it a one point game and force the Dolphins to call a timeout with a 9-8 lead.

Le Moyne put together a run scoring six of seven points to lead 21-13 as Niagara called a timeout. The Dolphins took their first set of the match 25-17.

Robinson led the Purple Eagles with three kills in the third set, Noel Perkins made her first appearance of the game, tallying five assists.

Set Four

The Dolphins once again got off to a quick start this time scoring the first six points of the set before Katie Jacobs stopped their run with a kill.

Niagara called a timeout after Le Moyne scored four straight points to gain a 18-9 lead. Out of the timeout break the Purple Eagles scored nine points to force the Dolphins to take a timeout and make it a three point game.

The Purple Eagles comeback attempt came up short as the Dolphins tied it up at two sets a piece taking set four 25-19.

Tolliver for the third set led Niagara with three kills in set four while Perkins recorded five assists.

Set Five

Le Moyne got off to a 4-2 lead to start the fifth set but kills from Robinson and Mia Schaefer and an ace from Lizzie Kraft knotted the game up at five.

The Dolphins forced a Purple Eagles timeout with four straight points and didn't look back to take down Niagara 15-11.
