Niagara Defeats Sacred Heart

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Niagara (13-22, 7-13 MAAC) bounced back to defeat Sacred Heart 9-5 in the second game of a three game MAAC series on Saturday at Bobo Field.

How it Happened

Nate Milk got things going for the Purple Eagles in the first inning with a solo homer to left field. The Pioneers tied the game up in the third with an RBI double.

Niagara regained the lead in the bottom of the third when Jacob Brooks hit a two run homer down the left field line. Sacred Heart cut into the lead by one in the fifth with another RBI double. Brooks then hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame to reinstate the Purple Eagles two run lead.

Sacred Heart homered in the top of the sixth, but Niagara answered back in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Curtis McKay. The Pioneers once again knotted up the game, this time with two runs in the seventh. 

Niagara's bats got hot in the bottom of the seventh, plating four runs starting with a bases loaded walk off of a pitch clock violation, followed by two-RBI double from Nate Milk and a sacrifice fly from Elijha Hammill.

• Niagara is now 1-4 all-time against Sacred Heart.

Ian Huang got his first start since 3/8/25 against Stony Brooks.

Jason Green went perfect with three base knocks and a walk in his four plate appearances.

• Milk recorded a season-high three RBI in the victory.

• Brooks extended his on base streak to 27 straight contests.

The Purple Eagles wrap up the three game conference series against Sacred Heart tomorrow April 27th with first pitch set for noon at Bobo Field.
