Niagara University, NY - Niagara (7-11, 5-3) lost in the first round of the MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship 16-11 against Rider in New Rochelle, NY on Friday.
How It Happened
Rider scored the first three goals of the game with Niagara striking back with two of their own with Olivia Ng and Michaela Delles both finding the back of the net. The Broncs responded with two more goals before Jaclyn Crane and Maddy Gill netted two more for the Purple Eagles to end the first quarter.
The Broncs once again opened the scoring in the second frame but Maddy Gill completed her hat-trick to knot the game up at six. Delles found the back of the net once again but Rider beat Haley Terry twice more to garner a one goal lead heading into halftime.
Out of the halftime break Niagara tied the game once again with Gill potting her fourth of the game and the Purple Eagles lone of the quarter. The Broncs scored four unanswered to wrap up the third quarter.
Rider continued their scoring to begin the fourth, burying the first two goals of the quarter. Delles completed her hat-trick but the Broncs responded with two goals of their own. Gill scored twice more but it was not enough as the Purple Eagles fell to the Broncs.
Haley Terry got the start in net making six saves.
