Niagara University, NY - Niagara (12-21, 7-11 MAAC) fell to Manhattan 5-3 in the final game of a three game MAAC series at Bobo Field Saturday.
How it Happened
Manhattan got on the board first in the top of the first inning with Hunter Sute drawing a bases loaded walk.Â
Vincent Mauro tied the game with a solo shot over the left field wall in the bottom of the fourth. Jacob Brooks followed that up with a two-RBI homer of his own to give the Purple Eagles the lead.
The Jaspers tied up the game in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI double from Ryan Lourdier and an RBI single off the bat of Sute. Manhattan took the lead in the sixth with an infield single from Guriy Salva.
Manhattan added an insurance run in the ninth with an RBI single from Andrew Lewis after a Purple Eagles error put a Jaspers runner in scoring position.
Nate Bennett got the start on the mound for the Purple and White, throwing one inning, allowing one run on five walks. Andrew Damiani came in for relief, allowing two runs on four hits in 4.0 innings of work, while striking out seven. Luke Glenn threw 0.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits. Gage Wheaton came in for 2.1 innings. CJ Hurley came in for the final two outs of the game.
