Loundonville, NY — Niagara (5-24, 3-11 MAAC) split a pair of conference games in a midweek doubleheader against Siena. The Purple Eagles took game one 6-2, before dropping the nightcap 11-7.
Game One
After two scoreless innings, both teams got on the scoreboard in the third. Hailey Cenname hit a three run homer to left field to give Niagara the lead. In the bottom of the frame the Saints got their only runs of the contest with a two-RBI single.
In the top of the fourth Sophia Marrero hit a three run homer of her own to extend the Purple Eagles lead to four. The final three innings went scoreless with Sage Jackson earning the win with a complete game.
Jackson got the start on the mound for the Purple and White, only allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out seven batters.
Game Two
Niagara got on the scoreboard first in the nightcap with Natasha Limbani hitting a solo home run to left field, but Siena answered in the bottom of the frame, scoring twice to take the lead. The Saints extended their lead in the bottom of the third scoring on a steal attempt of second base.
Both teams' offenses really got going in the fifth inning, starting with Niagara putting up three runs to regain the lead. Brianna Delaney hit a two-RBI double before Shayna Myshrall singled to plate Delaney. Selah Moyer then brought home Madison Lapenta for the Purple Eagles final run of the inning.
Siena responded right back in the bottom of the frame with four runs of their own to grab the lead once again, highlighted by an RBI single from Emma Peterson. Limbani homered once again in the sixth to knot the game up at seven.
The Saints closed out the game in the bottom of the sixth, plating four more runs with Peterson doubling to score two runs.
Aubrey Tamayo got the start in the nightcap, throwing 4.1 innings, allowing five runs on three hits. Jackson came in for relief allowing four runs on one hit in 1.1 innings of work. Abbey Steen threw the final 0.1 innings.

• Niagara is now 23-26 all-time against Siena.
• Cenname went a combined 6-for-8 to extend her hitting streak to four games.
• Marrero set a season-high with three RBI in game one.
• Jackson struck out a career-high seven batters in the game one victory.
• Limbani became the first Purple Eagles to hit multiple home runs in a game since Samantha Hare on 5/10/24 against Marist, with her two homers in game two.

The Purple Eagles will head back home to face Battle of the Bridge rival Canisius in a three game MAAC series starting Thursday April 17. First pitch for the Thursday doubleheader is slated for 1:00 pm.
