ORLANDO, Fla. — The Niagara women's tennis team fell to Lynn University 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at the USTA Campus in Orlando, Florida.
Despite the loss, the Purple Eagles (6-10) showed resilience with several strong individual performances.
Larisa Kotok led the way for Niagara, securing victories in both singles and doubles play. Kotok partnered with
Valeria Mora to dominate their #3 doubles match 6-0 over Lynn's Hailey Lizano and Brooke Distasio.
In singles competition, Kotok continued her impressive showing with a straight-set victory at the #3 position, defeating Carla Galmiche 6-1, 7-6.
Saloni Tamang also delivered a standout performance for Niagara, winning her #5 singles match 6-1, 6-5 against Paula Garcia Del Rey.
Gabriela Melo earned a point for the Purple Eagles in #1 singles when her opponent, Salma Djoubri, retired in the third set. Melo was trailing 4-6, 2-1 when Djoubri withdrew.
Lynn University (8-4) claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. The Fighting Knights also secured singles victories at the #4 and #6 positions, while the #2 singles match between
Isabel Garcia and Mariya Vyshkina remained unfinished at 4-6, 6-3, 1-1.
