NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — A promising start turned sour for Niagara as they dropped a 6-2 decision to crosstown rival Canisius at Dwyer Arena on Saturday night.

The Purple Eagles (17-14-3, 15-9-2) kept pace early, with junior forward
Noah Hackett netting his 11th goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 in the final seconds of the first period.
Ross Roloson and
Lane Brockhoff assisted on the play.
Spencer Young gave the home crowd of 1,649 something to cheer about early in the third period, scoring short-handed to even the game at 2-2. However, the momentum was short-lived as Canisius responded with four unanswered goals to close out the game.
Goaltender
Pierce Charleson, faced a barrage of shots throughout the night, making 33 saves in the loss. The Purple Eagles' offense struggled to find its rhythm, managing just eight shots in the final frame.
