NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Mikey Adamson scored a power-play goal 4:53 into overtime to give Sacred Heart a 3-2 victory over Niagara in men's ice hockey on Friday night at Dwyer Arena.

How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (14-12-3, 12-7-2) held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but couldn't close out the Pioneers.
Ray Murakami opened the scoring for Niagara at 14:17 of the first period, assisted by
Jay Ahearn and
Trevor Hoskin. After Sacred Heart tied it, Hoskin restored Niagara's lead at 10:09 of the second period with his 10th goal of the season.

Sacred Heart (17-9-4, 14-6-2) rallied with two straight goals from Matthew Guerra and Adamson in the second period to tie the game at 2-2. The teams remained deadlocked through the third period before
Shane Ott's tripping penalty in overtime proved costly for Niagara.

Pierce Charleson made 32 saves for the Purple Eagles in the losing effort. Niagara outshot Sacred Heart 13-4 in the first period but was outshot 31-20 the rest of the way.

• Niagara was swept in a league series at home for the first time this season and first time since January of the 2022-23 season.
• The Purple and White are now 22-19-2 against Sacred Heart.
