VESTAL, N.Y. —
Trenton Walters came off the bench to score 23 points and lead Niagara to a 67-59 victory over Binghamton at the Events Center in Vestal, N.Y.
Walters shot 7-for-12 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range, and made 6 of 7 free throws in 25 minutes. The Purple Eagles overcame a sluggish first half to pull away in the final 20 minutes.
Justin Page added 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting with three 3-pointers for Niagara, which trailed 25-22 at halftime before outscoring the Bearcats 45-34 in the second half.
The Purple Eagles shot 48.4% (15-for-31) after intermission, a marked improvement from their 32.1% showing in the opening half. Niagara also connected on 5 of 11 3-pointers in the second half after making just 2 of 11 before the break.
Josiah Sabino contributed six points and seven rebounds, while
Justin Hawkins added five points and seven boards for the Purple Eagles.
Niagara took control with a decisive run midway through the second half, turning a 40-37 deficit into a 52-49 lead. The Purple Eagles never trailed again, extending their advantage to eight points in the final minute.
