EASTON, Mass. – The Niagara women's basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the season following a 65-50 loss to Stonehill on Monday afternoon at Merkert Gymnasium in Easton, Mass.
Jordyn Williams got the Purple Eagles on the board with the first basket of the contest, but the Purple Eagles struggled offensively throughout, shooting just 31.1% from the field and converting only four 4-pointers on 13 attempts.
It was a 10 point game after one quarter with Wiliams and
Talia Dial leading the scoring with three points a piece. The Skyhawks lead grew to 13 by halftime up 37-24.
Out of the halftime break Stonehill once again grew their lead this time to 19 but Niagara shot its best in the fourth quarter at 46.2% outscoring the Skyhawks 14-10 to cut the deficit to 15.
Chasity Wilson led Niagara with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting, adding one assist and two steals in 26 minutes. Dial contributed 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while adding one assist.
Jade Rutledge along with Williams finished with six points.
Tyasia Freeman pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
