Schenectady, NY – The Niagara Purple Eagles dropped to 3-2-0 on the season following a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Union College on Friday night at M&T Bank Arena.
The Purple Eagles took an early penalty at the 8:31 mark giving the Garnet Chargers a five minute power play. Union capitalized twice during the span starting with Ben Muthersbaugh opening the scoring at 9:09 on the power play, assisted by Brandon Buhr and Parker Lindauer, Just over two minutes later, Lindauer made it 2-0 with helpers from Etienne Lessard and Muthersbaugh.
Despite outshooting Union 10-7 in the opening frame, Niagara couldn't solve Cameron Korpi in the Union net, while Tomas Anderson faced 17 shots, making 15 saves.
Union extended their lead to 3-0 on another power play goal by Tyler Dunbar at 16:41, with Lindauer picking up his third assist of the night.
Carter Korpi scored just 3:17 in to make it 4-0, assisted by Troy Pelton and Dunbar. Fifteen seconds later, Dunbar struck again at 5:32 for his second goal of the game, with Lessard and Lindauer assisting.
Muthersbaugh scored just 16 seconds after that at 5:48, prompting Niagara to pull Anderson in favor of Mitch Day.
