Niagara University, NY - Niagara volleyball got back into the win column defeating Manhattan in five sets (25-20, 19-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-10) in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Draddy Gymnasium.
The Purple Eagles are now 6-9, 6-1 MAAC, while the Jaspers fell to 2-14, 0-7 MAAC.
Set One
Niagara got out to a 4-2 lead to start the contest with kills from Payton Lee, Janiah Robinson and Kinga Wronska.
The Purple Eagles and Jaspers traded points with Niagara holding the lead for most of the first set.
Niagara recorded the final two points of the set with a Jaspers attack error and a kill from Wronska to take the first set 25-20.
Set Two
The Jaspers got out to a 7-0 lead to start the second set, expanding their lead to 14-5 at one point.
Niagara tried to battle back with three kills a piece from Liana Tolliver and Sydney Wilkes, but Manhattan held on to tie the game up at one set a piece.
Set Three
Manhattan once again got out to an early lead to start the set with a 3-1 lead and a 6-4 lead.
The Purple Eagles put together three straight points with a kill from Wilkes and an ace from Mia Schaefer to take a 7-6 lead.Â
The Jaspers went on a six point run to regain the lead 13-8. Niagara put together five straight points of their own with kills from Lee, Wronska and Wilkes and an ace from Noel Perkins to take a 17-15 lead.
Manhattan went on to score eight of the final nine points and take the set 25-21.
Set Four
The Purple Eagles opened the fourth set on a 5-0 run with kills from Robinson and Katie Jacobs and a service ace from Kylie Blessing.
Manhattan once again scored six straight points to take a 8-7 lead. Niagara bounced back with a seven point run with two kills from Wronska and a kill from Wilkes to regain a 15-11 lead.
The teams traded the lead back and forth the rest of the set, but Niagara scored the final two points of the set with kills from Wronska and Wilkes to force a fifth set.
Set Five
The final set was very back and forth to start until Niagara got out to a 13-8 lead, led by a kill from Lee and an ace from Jacobs.
The Purple Eagles completed the comeback scoring the final two points of the game off of Jaspers miscues to win 15-10.

Wilkes followed up her 20 kills performance against Iona with 18 kills to lead the Purple and White in the victory
Blessing tied a career-high with 30 assists in the win

Wronska tallied her eighth double double of the season with 16 kills and 15 digs
