Niagara Storms Back for 4-2 Win Over Bentley

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Jay Ahearn scored two goals, including a short-handed tally late in the third period, as Niagara rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Bentley 4-2 on Saturday night at Dwyer Arena.
 
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (10-8-3, 9-4-2) trailed 2-0 late in the second period before Trevor Hoskin sparked the comeback with his sixth goal of the season with two seconds to go in the middle frame. The goal, assisted by Ahearn and Glebs Prohorenkovs, shifted momentum heading into the third period.
 
Grayson Dietrich tied the game at 4:56 of the third period before Ahearn put Niagara ahead with a short-handed goal at 17:20. Prohorenkovs sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:24.
 
Pierce Charleson made 43 saves for Niagara, including 15 in the final period to preserve the win.
 
Bentley (11-7-2, 9-4-1) got goals from Sam Duerr and Nick Bochen, building a 2-0 lead through the first 39 minutes before Niagara's comeback. Connor Hasley stopped 26 shots in the loss.
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara moves to 17-12-3 all-time against Bentley and 12-9-1 all-time inside Dwyer Arena.
• Ahearn's scored his fifth career game-winning goal in his career and second of the season. It was also Niagara's second shorthanded goal of the season. 
• 10 different Purple Eagles recorded at least one blocked shot for a total of 17.
• Niagara has recorded 10 or more blocked shots in 15 different games this season.
• Charleson recorded 40-plus saves for the fifth time this season.
