Marist Edges Niagara in Overtime

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Four Purple Eagles notched double-digit points, but it wasn't enough as Marist defeated Niagara 67-65 in overtime on Thursday night in MAAC action inside the Gallagher Center.
 
How it Happened
Josiah Davis and Justice Smith led Niagara (7-12, 2-6 MAAC) with 13 points each, but the Purple Eagles couldn't get ahead in overtime despite forcing the extra period.
 
In a tightly contested game that featured 12 lead changes and eight ties, Niagara held a six-point lead early in the second half before Marist (14-3, 7-1 MAAC) rallied. The Red Foxes used a 10-0 run midway through the second half to take control, though Niagara would later tie it at 57 on a Davis layup to force overtime.
 
Jadin Collins-Roberts scored 12 points and added 11 assists for Marist, while Josh Pascarelli and Tarik Watson chipped in 11 and 12 points respectively.
 
Jaeden Marshall added 12 points for Niagara, with Olumide Adelodun contributing 11 points and six rebounds in the losing effort.
 
Niagara shot 48.1 percent from the field but struggled from 3-point range, hitting just 2-of-11 attempts. Marist connected on 8-of-22 from beyond the arc, which proved to be a difference maker for the Red Foxes.

• Niagara moves to 33-29 all-time against the Red Foxes with Marist improving its win streak to three over the Purple and White.
• The loss is Niagara's first this season when four or more Purple Eagles notch double figures.
• Niagara is now 3-3 in games decided by 3 points or less.
• Smith led Niagara in scoring for the fourth time this season. The senior also finished with a season-high four steals.
• Davis led NU in assists with four, marking the ninth time this season the junior finished with the team-high.
