Garlow Scores Six in Win Over Stetson

DeLAND, FLA. – Niagara (6-1) senior Lois Garlow matched her season-high with six goals to lead Niagara to a 20-17 win over Stetson (3-4) Thursday evening in non-conference action.
 
Andra Savage added four goals while Rachel Crane and Lexi Braniecki found the back of the net three times each and Maddy Gill, Amber Daley, and Annie Steigerwald each scored once in the contest. Riley Latray finished with a team-high three assists, Sydney Huhtala recorded a team-best three caused turnovers, and Crane finished with seven draw controls. In goal for Niagara was Jordan Roy, she finished with nine saves and a team-hihg eight ground balls. 
 
How it Happened
Stetson put Niagara down 2-0 less than three minutes into the contest, before the Crane and Garlow evened the score just a few moments later.
 
The two teams would then trade goals through the remainder of the quarter, going into the second tied at six.
 
The Purple and White would take their first lead of the game as Garlow found the back of the net a minute and a half into action in the second quarter, leading to two more Niagara goals, another from Garlow and one from Braniecki, putting the Purple Eagles up by three.
 
After Stetson drew within one, 9-8, Niagara would take a 10-8 lead, however the Hatters would only trail for the next three minutes and changes as they scored a total of five straight to take a 12-10 lead over NU.
 
Braniecki would make it a 12-11 game going into the third with her second of the game.
 
Niagara would outscore Stetson, 3-2, in the third, the lowest scoring quarter of the game, making it a 14-14 contest heading into the final 15 minutes.
 
After Stetson tied the game at 16-16, the Purple Eagles would score three-straight to take a 19-16 lead over the Hatters with 3:23 remaining. Stetson would score their final goal of the contest before Niagara deposited its last into the back of the net to give the game it's 20-17 final.
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara recorded its second game with 20 goals this season and have scored 113 goals through its first seven games.
• Niagara's 6-1 start is the best in program history.
• Roy's eight ground balls is a season-high for a Purple Eagle this season and a career-high for the netminder.
• Latray matched her season-high with six assists. 
• Savage has scored five goals in three-straight games.
