Olean, N.Y.-- The Niagara tennis teams traveled to St. Bonaventure on Saturday as both the men's and women's teams faced the Bonnies. The women's tennis team fell 4-3 as the men won 5-2.
Women's Recap
Doubles
In third doubles Enrica Favaron and Larisa Kotok teamed up and won their match 6-3 over the St. Bonaventure duo.
In first doubles Elena Mayet and Jadia Borg fell 6-1 to the duo from St. Bonaventure.
Coral Rodriguez and Gabriela Melo teamed up in the second doubles match but fell 6-1 to the Bonnies duo.
Singles
Rodriguez won her match in second singles by winning both sets 6-2.
Kotok picked up a win in sixth singles. She won the first set 6-0 and closed out the match with a 7-5 win in the second set.
Mayet was slated into the first singles, dropping both sets 6-3 and 6-4.
Melo forced three sets in third singles, in the firstset she won 7-5, she then lost the next the second 7-5. In the tiebreaker set she fell 6-2.
Borg was tabbed in four singles and dropped both of her sets 6-3 and 6-1.
Mercedes Velasco won her match by opponent's retirement, her sets were a 6-3 win and a 5-4 win.
Men's Recap
Doubles
Trevor Masi and Tanner Bedard teamed up in first doubles and won their match 6-3.
In second doubles, the freshman duo of Vid Maric and José Maria Garcia dropped their match 6-2.
The third doubles match was won by forfeit.
Singles
Bedard won his first singles match in two sets, 7-6 and 6-4.
Masi won his match in three sets, Masi dropped the first set 6-1 then rallied back in both sets to win 7-6 and 6-3.
Maric lost his match in three sets, winning the first set 6-3 then dropping the next two sets 6-4 and 6-2.
Garcia dropped both sets in fourth singles 6-1, 6-2.
Alonso won his match in three sets, Alonso won the first set 6-2, dropped the second set 6-2, then won a back-and-forth set 10-8 that game Alonso the win.
In the final singles match Niagara won due to a forfeit.
