Niagara Shoots Past LIU, 60-52

EASTON, Pa.  — A trio of Purple Eagles recorded double-digit points, including a team-best 15 from Jahari Williamson off the bench to help Niagara pull away in the second half to defeat Long Island University (LIU) 60-52 on Sunday.
 
How it Happend
Olumide Adelodun finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Jhaylon Martinez had 11 points and six boards to aid in Niagara's win.
 
The Purple Eagles led 27-22 at halftime and gradually extended their advantage after the break, shooting 11-for-18 from the field in the final 20 minutes. The Purple and White reserves outscored LIU's reserves 25-8.
 
Terell Strickland led LIU (3-7, 0-0 NEC) with 17 points and Malachi Davis added 15 points, but the Sharks shot just 35.2 percent overall and went 7-for-24 from 3-point range.
 
Niagara's defense held firm down the stretch, never letting LIU get closer than five points in the final four minutes. The Purple Eagles sealed the win at the free throw line, where they went 10-for-12 in the second half.
